I’m Avadh Nagaralawala, a PMP-certified professional with over 12 years of experience leading automation and control systems projects, particularly within the mining and heavy equipment sectors. My background combines technical expertise with strategic project leadership, having delivered complex initiatives in both global and local environments.

Why are you running for the Board?
I’m running for the Board because I believe in the power of project management not only to deliver results—but to empower people and shape thriving communities. The PMI Arizona Chapter has the opportunity to become a true catalyst for professional development and regional collaboration.

With my experience in both technical and leadership roles, I understand the challenges professionals face in adapting to change, upskilling, and navigating complex industries. I want to help build a chapter that’s responsive to those needs—offering accessible programs, stronger member engagement, and meaningful connections.

Serving on the Board would allow me to give back to a profession that’s given me so much. I want to contribute my voice, experience, and ideas to make the Arizona Chapter more dynamic, inclusive, and valuable for every member. It’s about creating a chapter where everyone can grow and lead.

What specific personal talents, skills, or experience will you bring to the PMI Arizona Chapter?
I bring over 12 years of experience as a project and control systems engineer with a strong foundation in automation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership. As a PMP-certified professional, I’ve led global initiatives focused on innovation, efficiency, and team performance. I’ve also held active roles in professional associations including SME, WIM, and the Colorado Mining Association—where I serve on the Government Affairs Committee. These roles have strengthened my skills in community engagement, governance, and event planning. I’ve spoken at international conferences and webinars, which has helped me connect with diverse audiences and advocate for professional growth in technical fields. Above all, I’m a collaborative, inclusive leader who listens first and acts with purpose. I enjoy mentoring, building bridges across disciplines, and helping others find their path in project management. I will bring energy, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to strengthening the Arizona Chapter’s impact.

How do you envision the new AZ Chapter fostering inclusivity and delivering meaningful value to all members?
I envision the new PMI Arizona Chapter as a hub for connection, learning, and opportunity—open to all backgrounds, industries, and career levels. Inclusivity begins with listening and understanding the diverse needs of our membership base. We must intentionally design programs that reflect that diversity, including mentorship for early-career professionals, leadership tracks for experienced PMs, and networking spaces that are welcoming and accessible. I believe in rotating event locations, offering hybrid participation options, and spotlighting member success stories to ensure everyone feels seen and valued.

Value delivery means aligning offerings with what matters most—practical upskilling, job opportunities, certifications, and peer collaboration. Through consistent engagement, strong partnerships with local industries, and feedback-driven programming, the Chapter can become an essential resource for every member’s professional growth."
