Elections Process
The following steps outline the elections process for the PMI Arizona Chapter Board Director elections. All emails sent are delivered to the email address listed in each member’s PMI profile, which can be updated at PMI.org. The specific dates are available on the PMI AZ Elections web page. For questions, please contact elections@pmiaz.org.
Step 1: Board Nominations
Nominees are identified through the board nominations process, where each Nominee must have three (3) nominations — one (1) must be from yourself and at least two (2) must be from other active Chapter members.
Step 2: Nominee Submits Qualifications
After gathering three (3) nominations, the Nominee receives an email with a link to a “Nominee Details” form to collect information from the Nominee. The Nominations Committee reviews the form and confirms qualifications are met. If the Nominee is qualified, he/she moves on to the next step.
Step 3: Nominee Schedules Interview
After a Nominee’s qualifications are validated, Nominees receive an email to schedule an interview with the Nominations Committee using a link to the “Nominee Interview Booking” page.
Step 4: Interview between Nominee and Nominations Committee
An interview between the Nominee and the Nominations Committee confirms the Nominee understands the board of director roles and responsibilities and validates his/her experience to perform the role. The interview also provides information to ensure the Nominee understands how he/she can add value as a board member.
Step 5: Nominee Qualifications Confirmed
After the interview, the Nominations Committee confirms each Nominee meets the qualifications and is able to execute the roles and responsibilities of a Board Director. If the Nominee qualifies to run in the board elections, he/she becomes a “Candidate” and receives an email confirming his/her inclusion on the Elections Ballot.
Step 6: Ballot Announced
The board of directors ballot containing all qualified candidates is announced to all active PMI AZ Chapter members.
Step 7: Candidate Introduction to Chapter Members
Candidates are introduced to Chapter members, and their details collected via the Nominee Details Form are published on the PMI AZ Chapter website. Candidates also have the option to create a video, which will be included as part of their online candidate details.
Step 8: Elections Occur
All active PMI AZ Chapter members will receive an email with a link to the ballot. The email will specify the deadline by which all votes must be received to be considered.
Step 9: Election Results
After the election closes, the Elections Committee Manager conducts a final validation. The results are shared with the current Board Chair and Past Board Chair, then announced to all active PMI AZ Chapter members.
Step 10: Transition Period
There is a Transition Period between outgoing and incoming board members. This period begins in November of the current year and concludes at the end of January of the next year. All newly elected board members must attend the in-person board meetings starting in November of the current year and complete the onboarding process.
